Weir Break 5

dehoxar-all-8-logos-same-sizeThe Problem

Sites that have external taps for uses such as cleaning vehicles, washing down machinery, filling water tanks, irrigation etc. are subject to assessment for the danger of back-flow. Back-flow can occur if, for example, a hose is not properly shut off, and the mains water pressure drops or is cut off. This creates a syphon effect, sucking whatever liquid the hose has been left lying in back in to the mains supply and contaminating it.

In accordance with Water Regulations, site are rated in levels of potential contamination risk. These levels are broken in to Fluid Catagories 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, and are a rating of how dangerous the fluid that could potentially be syphoned up is (with catagory 5 being the most dangerous). This is regulated by local authorities to ensure compliance and failure to comply can lead to prosecution.

The Solution

Plantwork Systems have developed the Weir Break 5 unit to eliminate the danger of back-flow. Already used in more than 300 sites in the UK, it is a simple and affordable solution (which incorporates an “AB” air gap) to providing standpipes that can safely and legally be used in all sites at risk, including Fluid Category 5 locations.

Product Benefits

COMPLIES WITH REGULATIONS WITH A TYPE AB AIR GAP (REQUIRED FOR FLUID CATEGORY 5 LOCATIONS)

ONLY REQUIRES BASIC WATER AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTION FOR INSTALLATION (NO ASSEMBLY REQUIRED)

FLEXIBLE DESIGN MEANS NO LIMITATIONS TO POSSIBLE USES

PROVIDES BOOST IN WATER PRESSURE AND OPERATES IN FREEZING CONDITIONS

MUCH MORE COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTION THAN REPLACING THE POTABLE WATER SUPPLY WITH WASHWATER

ON STWS IT CAN PROVIDE ‘ON DEMAND’ SUPPORT TO SCREENS AND OTHER PLANT EQUIPMENT REQUIRING A RELIABLE WATER SUPPLY WHEN WASHWATER IS UNAVAILABLE OR OF POOR PRESSURE

Bespoke Design

Our standard unit will supply a continuous pumped flow for approximately 5-10 minutes before demand outstrips supply. The pump will then shut off until the tank is filled again. In situations where a continuous flow is required for long periods we offer several different options to cater for this requirement, such as a ‘full bore equilibrium inlet valve’ for the supply inlet and larger storage tank options. We are happy to advise on your specific requirements.
